Sac Central Delegation Bulletin #9: Leadership Deadline and Advocacy Part 3

At our next meeting: We'll wrap up the 3rd part of our Advocacy and The Legislative Process Module, get into the Bill process for this year, and hold Leadership run-offs (if needed).

What's due: Leadership applications are due Tuesday, Nov 17 by 11:59pm; Value Worksheets are due Wed, Nov 18 by 6pm.

Here's what else you need to know this week:

1.) Elected & Appointed Leadership - Due Tuesday: A maximum of 5 delegates from our delegation can run for elected office (and only 1 person per elected office). A maximum of 2 delegates from our delegation can apply for any given appointed leadership role. There are elected and appointed opportunities in all program areas as well as region-wide. We strongly encourage folks to run for/apply for leadership! It's a great opportunity to practice interview skills and public speaking and whether you're [s]elected or not, you'll have fun. Review leadership information here.  A list of available positions can be found here
  • Your deadlines: CapCo Delegates must complete leadership applications by Tuesday, November 17 at 11:59pm so that we can have delegation-level primaries, if needed, so that we don't exceed our candidate/applicant cap. To apply/run for a leadership position in-program, you must be assigned to that program area. Region-wide candidates/applicants will still be assigned to a program area in which they will serve if not [s]elected. The leadership application can be found hereDelegation level primaries will be held at our next meeting, if necessary.  Don't get tricked by the regional deadline that comes after ours. Your apps are due Tuesday!

2.)Values & Public Policy Worksheet:a new assignment is in our delegationgoogle classroom. This worksheet builds on the work we've been doing over the past few weeks by bringing together your personal values and gets you starting to think about how they might impact what legislation you want to work on this year. You've already done part of this during our meetings, so grab that scratch paper you wrote your value down on and build from there. Advocates and Legislators will use this later to build their platforms for the coming legislative sessions, but everyone needs to complete this worksheet, regardless of program area.Due 11/18 at 6pm.  Remember - there are never any right or wrong answers on these!

3.) Role Assignments: Here are this year's program area assignments. During conferences for the remainder of the year, you'll learn how to embody your role as a legislator, advocate, analyst, attorney, or justice.
