SacC MUN Bulletin #2: Registration and Payments are Due!

Our Ambassadors did great work last week learning about resolutions. This week, we'll keep working on resolutions and public speaking, and start learning about other parts of the real-world United Nations.

Important Deadlines This Week!
This is our week to finalize conference registration! For us to approve your conference registration so you can attend the training conference and Summit, you MUST have done the following:

  • Complete Reggo Conference RegistrationDUE MONDAY, FEBRUARY 4! This registration reserves their spot at our training conference in March and Summit in April. Please visit Reggo to register and set up a Reggo account (free). Ambassadors will need to access Reggo later in the program to apply for leadership or other special programs, so keep the log-in and password handy! Choose the "18th Model United Nations" option! Here is an illustrated guide to the process
  • Make Your Deposit and First Payment: By February 8, 2018 at 5pm, all Ambassadors should have paid their initial $100 deposit and first $350 payment for a total paid of $450. If you have not yet made these payments, you can bring a check payable to "Sacramento Central YMCA" with your Ambassador's name and "MUN" in the memo to this week's meeting. You can also pay online here. Please note that while it looks like you are asked for the entire program fee, when you click through you will see just the deposit charged.
    • If the deposit and first payment present a financial hardship, you must submit a Y-Assist Application. Please return the application with all required supporting documents to the next meeting. It is vital that we receive these as soon as possible. You can find the applications on page 12-17 of the paperwork packet.
    • We are happy to work with families with payment assistance but we need the required paperwork ASAP!
      • If you have already submitted a Y-Assist application, it is pending, and we will let you know about your award early next week
  • Submit Your Complete Paperwork Packet:  The required packet can be found here and you'll see "please sign and return" or "keep this form" at the bottom of each page. A checklist of registration documents is also included for your convenience.
  • Late Fees ($15) May Apply if have not completed a required registration element on time, per our Payment Policy.
If you would like to see what documents we have received and what is still on your to-do list, please click here (looks best on desktop rather than mobile): https://airtable.com/shrktvDnq3rW6kZYm

First Fundraiser of the Year: This week we distributed catalogs for our first fundraiser of the year, Mixed Bag catalog sales. Mixed Bags is a line of eco-friendly recycled bags, travel accessories, and kitchen items. Orders can be taken in person or an online site shared with family and friends. Ambassadors who participate have the option of applying 50% of their pre-tax sales (40% for online sales) to their program fee balance or donating that amount to our scholarship fund. More information will be available on Tuesday. The instructions for the sale can be found here. Orders and Money are due Tuesday, February 19

Reminder: Scavenger Hunt #1If you didn't have a chance to last week, click here to check out the online Scavenger Hunt that will take you to the United Nations' website, www.un.org. Jot  your answers down on scrap paper and we'll share this week!

Weekly Universal Declaration of Human Rights Article: Each week, the bulletin will include 1-3 articles from the UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights. We may use these as discussion or debate topics at meetings from time to time. You can learn more about the Declaration here.
  • Article 2. Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. Furthermore, no distinction shall be made on the basis of the political, jurisdictional or international status of the country or territory to which a person belongs, whether it be independent, trust, non-self-governing or under any other limitation of sovereignty.
Schedule Reminder: We have a meeting next Tuesday, February 5 but we will not meet on Tuesday, February 12!

Thank you!
