Sac Central Delegation Bulletin #1: Welcome to Y&G 2020-21!

Each week - all registered delegates and families receive a delegation bulletin with information to help you get the most of Youth & Government.

Make sure to check your email weekly and #readthebulletin.

"Fight for the things that you care about. But do it in a way that will lead others to join you." -  Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg, 1933-2020

At the next meeting: You'll learn about the Executive and Judicial Branches of Government, continue to get to know each other, and debate another current event.
What's duePayments and Y-Assist application (where applicable).

Here's what else you need to know this week:

1.) Still Accepting New DelegatesIf you know someone who might be interested in Y&G, let them know that registration is still open and available here: bit.ly/capcoreg2020. If you'd like to invite a non-registered guest a meeting, please email me, copy your interested friend, and I'll give them access to our meeting.

2.) Join our Remind Text Group: If you haven't already, text @saccentral to 81010 to join our remind text group.

3.) Payments and Financial Aid - Due Friday, September 25: This year's program fee is $250. There are two payment options:

  • Option 1: Pay the entire fee online here. (On the "Review Order Screen" make sure you click the blue "Pay full amount instead" link).
  • Option 2: Option 2: Make a $25 deposit online and submit your completed Y-Assist application with supporting documents. Note: applications cannot be processed without the required supporting documentation.

If you are checking out as a guest, select "Sacramento Central YMCA" as your primary location when prompted.

If the deposit poses a hardship, contact your lead advisor. As ever, cost should never come between a delegate and Y&G. If you do not need aid, but need an installment payment plan, please contact Christiana. Program fees cover program overhead (ie: zoom webinar account, online election software, speakers’ fees) and your Delegation Care package (sweatshirt, mask, DoD lanyard, and welcome materials)

4.) Staying Informed: Y&G is all about community engagement. To be engaged, you first need to be informed! Current events will be discussed at each meeting. Stay informed by checking out the news each day. We recommend checking Rough & Tumble daily - a great site that aggregates the top news from around California each day. Reading the news will help you identify the issues in which you're most interested and educate you on the day's most pressing problems.

5.) This Week's Zoom Link: Here's the info for this week's delegation meeting. Remember: links may not be shared with non-registered delegates. If you want to invite a guest, email Christiana. Officers should log on at 6pm, all others at 6:30pm

CHECK YOUR EMAIL FOR LINK. Link not posted online for security reasons.

6.) Conference Dates: Make sure you keep the following conference dates reserved on your calendars, all are Sundays except for our first March date: November 8, December 13, January 10, February 28, March 6-7. Times are still be finalized, but to be safe, reserve a window between 9am and 3pm.

Family Corner:

Join us for (Virtual) S'moresfest 2020! Each year, the YMCA's fall fundraising gala provides us with the opportunity to support the YMCA as we eat BBQ and gourmet s'mores. This year's event is, of course, online and will feature highlights of all the work our YMCA does in the community (including Y&G!), musical acts, special guests, and more! It's free to tune in to the October 10 event and, if you're looking for a dinner treat and the chance to vote in Sacramento's Second Annual S'mores Competition, we've got you covered with a VIP Dinner Box option! Click here for more information
