Sac Central Delegation: Pre-Season Bulletin

Hello!

Welcome to the 2018-19 Youth & Government program year. We're happy to have all of our returners returning and looking forward to welcoming new delegates as well. Each week, you'll receive a bulletin chock full of important information for the coming week including deadline reminders, meeting information, and more. Make sure you look for and read this email (parents too!)

1. Meetings Start September 5! Our first meeting of the new year is next Wednesday, September 5, at 6:30pm at the Tahoe Park Community Center (5959 8th Avenue). Delegates should bring a notebook or paper, a pen, and whatever calendar or planner they use to keep organized. We'll play some games, provide an overview of our program, and discuss some calendar highlights for the coming year.

2. Get to know the website. Did you know we have a website where you can find all past bulletins, forms and downloads, and a Capitol Coalition Calendar? It's true! It's the place to check first when you have basic questions about conference dates or are looking for copies of information distributed at meetings: http://saccentraldelegation.blogspot.com/

3. Community Service and Fundraiser Volunteer Sign-Ups. We've got several community service opportunities in September and October - which brings us to our first google form of the year! I know, I know, you're very excited, right? I know I am! Click here and let us know which days you are available to participate. Delegates who complete this form prior to our first meeting will be entered into a Starbucks gift card raffle.

4. Paperwork and Payments Due. Make sure to bring your completed paperwork packet to our meeting next week. Note that pages that must be returned are marked so on the bottom. Everything else marked "keep this" should be . . . kept! Also, the $100 initial deposit is also due next week. You can pay by check payable to "Sacramento Central YMCA" with the delegate name in the memo or online. We are also asking families to complete the automatic bank draft form found in your paper packet (pp 17-18) this year. It ensures timely payments and helps us keep administrative costs down.

5. Y-Assist and Scholarship App. We have several forms of financial assistance available for delegate families. The first, and most important, are found in your paperwork packet (pp 19-24). Y-Assist is provided through our YMCA and the Individual Scholarship is provided by CalYMCA (the YMCA that coordinates our conferences). If you would like to apply for financial aid, please complete both application forms and submit them with the required supporting documents. (You only need one copy of your supporting documents. We will submit the Individual Scholarship to CalYMCA on your behalf.)   We are committed to equal program access for all and are dedicated to ensuring the benefits of Y&G are available to every student in our community without regard to financial need. No delegate should ever drop out or refrain from joining because of financial concerns. If you want to do this program, we want you to do this program

See you next week!
