Sac Central Delegation Bulletin #3: Monday Meeting and Media Literacy!

 

SPECIAL SCHEDULE NOTE: This Monday, we'll join delegates from around Northern California for our first Webinar of the year on Media Literacy. This webinar, and a special CapCo Mini Meeting that will take place right after, will take the place of our regular Wednesday meeting.

At our next regularly scheduled meeting:we'll continue with Reliable Research and Information with a guest speaker who makes it his job to know more about candidates than they know about themselves . . . .

Here's what else you need to know this week:


1.) Monday Webinar: Our first webinar of the year will be Monday, October 5 at5:30pmon Media Literacy.  Here's the Zoom info: SEE EMAIL FOR ZOOM LINKS 


2.)CapCo Mini Meeting (also Monday Oct 5): Immediately following the Webinar (likely 6:15pm or so), we'll convene our first Capitol Coalition all-delegate meeting. This is your first chance to meet folks from our sister delegations.  Here's the zoom info for that: SEE EMAIL FOR ZOOM LINKS


3.)S'moresfest Dinner Boxes Almost Sold Out! But registering for our free streaming event on Saturday, October 10, is still available! Each year, the YMCA's annual fundraiser,S'moresfest, raises money for our Y-Assist fund to ensure that all who want to participate in YMCA programs can do so, regardless of financial need. Tune in on October 10 at 7pm to learn more about our programs, our impact, and even see some familiar delegate faces!Register today! (You can check out oursilent auctionnow, too!)


4.) Sweatshirt Design Submission: If you have a sweatshirt design idea, you can submit it via this form. Here are some past designs for inspiration. Designs must be Y-appropriate and should assume that we'll only have ONE color of printing on our shirts. Design ideas will be due on Wednesday October 7. 


5.)Parli Pro: We've just scratched the surface of Parliamentary Procedure in our meetings so far - mastering the art of introducing ourselves using the Y&G lingo. But what is Parli Pro? And why should we care about rules and procedure? Check out this videofor more info on the magic of Parli Pro. 


6.)Vice Presidential Debate Watching Activity: We won't be meeting on Wednesday, October 7, so you'll have time to tune into the Vice Presidential Debate at 6pm that night. Keep this form handywhile you watch and note the different policy positions offered by each candidate. We'll select one of the policies to debate at our October 14 meeting. 


7.)Leadership Opportunity: Delegation Chaplain: The Chaplain elected at the end of last year moved abroad and now we have a role in the office team to be filled. Read about the Chaplain position here. If you are interested in running, pleasecontact Delegation President Trisha prior to our meeting on October 14. Candidates should be prepared to deliver a maximum of a 2 min speech with 1 minute devoted too an example invocation. 


REMINDERS:


Conference Dates: Make sure you keep the following conference dates reserved on your calendars, all are Sundays except for our first March date: November 8, December 13, January 10, February 28, March 6-7. Times are still be finalized, but to be safe, reserve a window between 9am and 3pm.


Payments and Financial Aid: This year's program fee is $250. There are two payment options:

  • Option 1: Pay the entire fee online here. (On the "Review Order Screen" make sure you click the blue "Pay full amount instead" link). 
  • Option 2: Option 2: Make a $25 deposit online and submit your completed Y-Assist application with supporting documents. Note: applications cannot be processed without the required supporting documentation.
