Sac Central Delegation Bulletin #3: Early meeting time and mandatory meeting this week!

Next week's meeting (9/26) is a mandatory meeting for all delegates and is one of our most important meetings of the year. Due to the busy agenda this week, the meeting for ALL delegates will start at 6:00pm instead of our usual time. During this week's values meeting, we'll set our delegation goals for the year and discuss who we are and how we want to be known at conferences and throughout the state. Please make sure you arrive on time!

NEW BUSINESS:

1.) This week's meeting (9/26) starts at 6pm for all delegates: We have a lot to do this week so we need a bit of extra time. Please arrive by 6pm so we can begin our meeting promptly at 6.

2.) LAST CHANCE Capitol Coalition Field Day: You have until Monday to sign up!!!!! Our Coalition Field Day convenes on Sunday, September 30 from 10am-4pm at the Sacramento Central YMCA. The cost is $10 (covers supplies and lunch) and you can sign up here. (If cost presents a hardship, talk to your lead advisor ASAP). Please bring your $10 payment to this week's meeting. Cash or check only, in envelope with your name.

3.) Sweatshirt Designs Due This Week: Each year, delegations design their own sweatshirts to wear to conferences. Last week, Sac Central picked two colors that, along with GoldCo's colors, went to Eldo for a vote. The winning color is: Carolina Blue. If you have a design idea, please submit it to Christiana via email or bring to next week's meeting. Designs must be Y-appropriate and, for now, assume that we will only have one-color printing on our shirts.

4.) FUNDRAISER ALERT Mixed Bags Sales Start This Week: Mixed Bags catalogs were provided at this week's delegation meeting along with instructions on completing order forms and collecting sales tax. Orders will be due on October 3. Delegates earn 50% of their pre-tax sales towards their program fees. Delegates who indicated interest in participating get priority for catalogs. All delegates need not have applied for Y-Assist to participate. Any delegate can reduce their program fees through Mixed Bag sales, not just those who have applied for Y-Assist. If you would like a catalog and didn't get one at the meeting. Email Christiana ASAP.

*****Delegate READING TEST! What time does this week's meeting start? Answer here for your chance to win a prize. (Must complete form by Tuesday at 12 noon to be entered)*****

5.) Bills Hopefully your reviewed our intro to bills video last week and reviewed the bills handout. This week, keep checking out current events and think about bill ideas you'd like to work on. Rough & Tumble is a great news aggregator website that collects top news from papers around California. You can also subscribe to The Roundup for a daily news digest delivered to your inbox. Of course, the Sac Bee is a great source, too.

REMINDERS:

Payments: If you signed up for the bank draft, payments will be deducted on the 20th of each month. Checks can be submitted at this week's meeting (payable to "Sacramento Central YMCA with your delegate's name in the memo line).  If you are making payments online, you will need to log into your account. This is usually going to be done with the delegate's email address (or the parent's email) and the password was automatically generated as the delegate's First and Last initial and their date of birth. So Jane Delegate, born on March 15, 2002 would have a password of JD031502. Contact Dylan if you have problems logging on to make your payment. Here are online payment instructions

Community Service and Fundraiser Volunteer Sign-Ups. We have volunteer service opportunities on September 29, October 5, and October 13 available. Click here and let us know which days you are available to participate.

-Remind your delegate to check email and read each week's bulletin and encourage them to stay on top of things like completing forms and registrations. Having them complete these tasks themselves helps impart some of the "soft skills" Y&G is designed to teach like responsibility, respect, and time management. This week, we really need those with outstanding items like Reggo and PIC to complete them, so please help us cross those items off the to-do list!

Camp Capital City: The Sacramento Central YMCA's signature fall fundraising event is quickly approaching! This evening of nostalgic summer camp themed fun supports our Y-Assist Fund, providing program access to all in our community, regardless of financial need. We'd love to have you attend! Tickets and sponsorships are available! Click here for more info.

At the next meeting we'll . . .
-- Learn about program area leadership opportunities
-- Discuss our sweatshirt designs!
--Discuss why and how you matter!

See you on Wednesday!
